guys,

have you ever had a solution for bear attacks? do you know any bear-proof coolers or boxes for rafting?

or can an electric fence solve the food storage problems? i know it may sound like a hassle but...do you put your food inside bear proof containers or in any bear-proof cooler?

oh thanks anyway. i know no one would ever make some bear-proof cooler for fools like us. hahaha

Goodluck on your search for that equipment! most coolers i've seen are way too small to contain what most paddlers do. and i honestly dont think there are larger ones. the best option left for u is still the electric fence. or better yet, a firearm haha!

and dont you be paranoid about the bears! i, for one, never had a problem with that. but be prepared still!

I agree on taking electric fence and firearms with me.. but how do i go about the regulations? i know that some parks and rafting vacations spots require certified bear proof containers. thus, firearms & electric fence do not exempt you from it. i hate it but i know that this regulation saves lives. that's why at this point, we HAVE to put up with those expensive containers & even purchase one that can accomodate a cooler. please let me know if you find one of these!

Hey, do not worry too much about bears!! Although i've read too many times how aggressive they are, i still haven't had an actual encounter with them. And besides, studies say that it's very rare that bears take an aggressive approach to people unless they become habitually abused by our poor practices like careless handling of food, leaving fish on the ground, and more..

Go for the clean camps. And yeah yeah, that fence can help you sleep better at night as you will hear the bears coming before they actually start to get in.

Seriously, they say it's possible to encounter at least 35 bears a day. But then nothing to worry since bears tend to be calm when there are more food in the surrounding that how much they need..

But honestly, when we had a camping, we didn't even bother to pick a cooler.. We just brought with us some frozenmeat and had it for 2 nights. After that, we just had dry goods.

Yeah, I agree much. You shouldn't worry much about bears since they are not hostile as they are depicted in movies and cartoons. Hahaha. They're usually become aggressive when they feel threatened or attacked. :) Good luck! :)

I am excited to see bear eversince that movie from chuck norris ( I forgot the title). I think they are cute.
They are GOD's creature. So i guess that as long as I will not intrude their privacy, they will not harm me.
I just pity those bears living in cage. Its not their home, they deserve to live in the forest. Its animal's rights anyway.
