Accidents can & do happen. It's always been a part of going outdoors. You're guaranteed with a hundred percent safety. In rafting there are different degrees wherein rapids are rated on a scale of Class 1 through 7. The high end is unsurvivable & the low end only starts with little ripples. Do you think your friend can manage to do well, sit upright, & paddle on certain conditions?

Let her see her doctor & ask for a recommendation. Anyway, you can always try to take a gentle trip with rapids from Classes 1-2 And don't worry because any disciplined rafting outfitter will make sure you wear your life jacket & helmet. Let them know about your friend's conditions so you'd know if they'd consider taking her in.

Good Luck!

well, to be totally safe, i'd suggest she talk to her doctor first. in rafting, you end up getting hit a little bit depending on the water you're paddling on. & sometimes, it can be so tough on your neck & back.

I can never consider it SAFE, but it is definitely FUN!! After all, nothing's really safe these days. Accidents are always something we worry about. And to that, i say, go out & have fun! I hope your friend is a good swimmer, tell her to go for it. You only live ONCE! But still, be sure you're both with someone who is experienced in rafting & try to stick to the lower class rapids first until you get comfortable!

a sport company got into trouble years ago for advertising their activity as safe. but today, any operator will tell you whether or not the activity is safe for u. remember though that most whitewater rafting accidents occur to males because alcohol is always involved & because of lack of safety equipment. always wear your helmet & PFD. when rafting with a commercial company, most likely you won't have any problems anyway!
