what do you guys usually wear when rafting on the river? i recently bought a book about rivers and it says there to wear knee high rubber boots, since i am planning to go rafting in Alaska fee weeks from now. can i ask for better explanations on the footwear you prefer? ideas will be very much appreciated. thanku!

Rubber boots are most convenient. :) But don't expect that you feet will be waterproof because of that! Especially when the river is great, expect to be soaked! :) But hey, just have fun and let the water take you away! But be sure not to let that adrenaline get to your logical mind. It's best that you still have that "presence of mind" just in case of emergency. :)

I know this is kinda weird, but you know a friend of mine went rafting last December wearing flipflops. Good thing the river di not turn their raft upside down.

wow! but flip flops are absolutely not accepted! haha your friend was good enough to have handled the situation well..
but generally, you can just wear something that could protect your feet from any possible wounds!
