How big is enough for Sixmile? I've been building up this float and i want to know what size of cataraft is enough for it..

small to medium catarafts are good, those ranging from 12 to 15 feet. smaller ones can actually slide easier at one side over the right side rock like round boats do. i did it there wit my sister's 11' cataraft & it worked quite well.

Smaller boats are better for lower water levels. And at high water, a larger cataraft is always better (15-17') :)
Personally i consider a 14' conventional boat is the best choice for Sixmile. Catarafts are pretty wide to fit through a place like that unless the water is up. And speaking of water levels, i consider 11' as high. Know that all deaths in Sixmile occurs when the water is close to or above 11'. If the water is low, you may lose ur boat but u can still swim out. And for ur first time, i suggest u look for levels bet 9 to 10' only.
You may also want to look for someone you could follow. Bcz you may not want to do this alone anyway, right??

for 4-5 persons who are taking a day trip or rafting camp, i think u have to look on something even bigger than a 14ft cataraft. that'd be about a thousand pounds of ppol & rafting gear, and more! the set up for this would be 2 persons sit in front, 2 at the back, and the oarsman at the middle. a 14' cataraft is really not long enough to be stretched for these. it will be so tight and it will only make the ride heavy.
i prefer more room. since a 14' cataraft makes an ideal whitewater river rafting boat only for 1-2 persons. That's why some of the whitewater rafting tour companies use them only as safety/rescue boats on Sixmile.
