do you guys know a technique on how to remove glued on items from a hypalon boat that's inflatable? the edges of the accessories are starting to peel off but the middle is still glued tightly. because i want to take the items off first, clean them up, then re-glue. but how can that be possible w/o damaging the raft? i am already tempted to use a heat gun but im scared it could melt the raft.. do you know any techniques or solvents that can take all these off? tnx!

a lot of people use MEK to dissolve old glue and clean it before doing the repair. if i were u, id use the same thing. make sure that u're in a well-vantilated area that isnt close to an open flame. NEVER use a heat gun! and the parts that doesnt come off with the MEK solvent, you can try scratching them off using sandpaper, but RUB it GENTLY! MEK is a bit price-y though. but it works!

yes, MEK solvent removes glue. yet, we recently discovered that Naptha will remove it faster. just be cautious!

the type of solvent to be used will depend on what boat u have. for Hypalon and Neoprene boats and other rubber boats, it's safe to use a MEK solvent to dissolve & clean the glue residue. again, do not use heat gun. a hair dryer will do. put it on a hot setting as it will soften the glue, soft enough to remove the patches. Then u can finally use MEK solvent on the excess glue. apply MEK in your rag, keep rubbing until the old glue breaks down.
