Popular Rafting Destinations - Colorado River Rafting Colorado is known to be home of the best whitewater rivers in the US. This Rocky Mountain state has snow-capped mountain peaks and several great rivers that pass down into the humid and thriving mountain valleys. Being the capital of whitewater action in the US, Colorado has the nation’s finest river headwaters, thus offering unsurpassed River Rafting experience.

Among the popular destinations in Colorado is the Pine Creek in Arkansas River, which starts downriver from Leadville, the state’s famous Granite town. Numbers, also in Arkansas, runs from below Granite to the Buena Vista stretch and highlights the renowned Rapids Numbers 1-6. One of the yearly favorite stretches is the Little Gore Canyon in the Colorado River, which offers great mountain scenery and several historic sites. Glenwood Canyon’s mineral hot springs is the perfect relaxation after engaging in the wild rapids of the Upper Superstition and Tombstone stretch of the Colorado River.

The Slickrock Canyon of the Dolores River has historic Indian sites through its desert canyon high rock walls. Another known stretch in the Dolores River is the Hanging Flume Canyon, which came about after the river gobbled the San Miguel River; momentous mining sites could also be seen in the area.

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison River is known to be the best stretch for Whitewater Rafting, Fishing and sight-seeing with its isolated, far-off rough country canyon.

The Yampa River is also a top-of-the-line Colorado destination, nearing the Dinosaur National Monument that offers superb Rafting, canoeing and Kayaking.
