Rafting Camps
While Whitewater Rafting is already a thrilling recreational activity, it gets better when spent with friends or many other Rafting enthusiasts in the wilderness.
Rafting became a leisure sport in the mid-70s. The breathtaking fun of navigating a tiny boat in raging bodies of water was enough to make Rafting one the most popular water activities. Through the years, rafters have found ways to enjoy their Rafting experience even more. Rafting Camps were organized to gather rafters in exploring new waters and having a relaxing time afterwards; cooking out and taking a plunge in the river.
Rafting Camps usually start with a hike to the camp site. Most day-long camps start early in the morning, leaving campers’ time to settle their things, have breakfast and prep up for the raft. After the ride, the rafters can go back to the site to enjoy the wilderness. They could hike in nearby woods, take a swim in the river or simply camp out.
Other Rafting Camps last much longer, from two days to a week where campers would get to experience more than one river. Itinerary for these camps includes several hikes when transferring to a different location. Usually, camps would be set out in the finishing end of the water and rafters would have to trek to the beginning point of the water. After a long and exciting course, there’s food, and tents waiting for you.
You can book your Rafting Camping trip and have the camp organizers take care of everything. Depending on the package, camp organizers can provide as much as the Raft, tents, sleeping gear, equipment and food. They also provide all pieces of safety equipment like life vests and harnesses. Packages come with trekker guides who aid campers through the hike to and from the camping site, or Rafting guides who could either instruct your group and/or join the trip.
You should always consider which time of the year to go Rafting Camping. It’s best to keep in mind several details such as water level, water temperature, rainfall and overall weather. Most camp organizers offer trips between April and October. These months have the most considerable type of weather not only for Rafting and camping but also for Hiking. April, May, September and October have pretty mild weather. Although with some rainfall, it’s still safe and pleasant to go during these months. The months in between may be quite hot during daytime, which is just fine for Rafting, but may eventually cool down during night time.
