Rafting Knots - Trucker's Hitch

A Trucker’s Hitch is tied to secure load or an object on a vehicle for hassle-free transport. In Rafting, this knot is usually used to secure the Raft and/or other pieces of Rafting Gear and equipment on a trailer. Learn how to tie a Trucker’s Hitch with the help of our animation and easy-to-understand steps.

Step 1:
Twist the rope to form a circle.

Step 2:
Make a loop and pass it through the circle.

Step 3:
Pass the end of the rope through the D-ring or cleat attached to the load to be tied down.

Step 4:
Pass the end through the loop and pull to tighten. Make an overhand knot or two half hitches to secure the Trucker’s Hitch.
