Summer Drought Dries Up Business On Waterways |

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will release less water than planned from Apalachia Reservoir for whitewater recreation on the Hiwassee River because of the lingering dry conditions.
Recreation releases will be provided daily beginning with the Memorial Day weekend as previously announced, but the volume and duration of flow will be reduced until rainfall returns to more normal levels.

Rafting Accident in Arkansas |

One man died while six other were thrown into the Arkansas river after a rafting accident in Royal Gorge. The accident happened at around 9:40 in the morning, Saturday when water was running at about 2140 cubic feet per second at the time of the incident.
