Residents of the Mid-Atlantic region can now enjoy a more exciting whitewater rafting trip along Lehigh River with the spectacular Pocono Mountains as their backdrop.
In celebration of Lehigh's 40th anniversary, the US Army Corps of Engineers will finally launch the much anticipated 2007 dam release. Every other weekend starting this summer until fall, Lehigh will be getting extra water from the Francis Walter Dam.
After the release, the Whitewater Challengers will be offering five guided rafting trips that are suitable for all ages. According to Whitewater Challengers founder Ken Powley, rafting along the Scenic River will offer families the perfect opportunity to bond. He also added that this is a great chance for first time rafters to discover the beauty and excitement of such adventure.
