End Search for Missing Russian Rafter |

The search and rescue mission for the missing Russian rafter in China has been called off after the Chinese crew decided to finally end the search.
A plane carrying the 2 survivors, Alexander Zverev and Andrey Pauotov along with the bodies of their 3 co-rafters is set to return home to Russia today.

State Whitewater Commission blasted by Auditor |

West Virginia's State Whitewater Commission was grilled by the legislative auditor for allegedly allocating the bulk of its budget on its whitewater enforcement officer’s salary instead of on efforts to improve rafter's safety.
According to result of an audit conducted during the 2002 to 2006 period, West Virginia ranked fifth with their number of rafting fatalities.

Saskatoon Weir Area to Turn into Whitewater Park |

The proposal to turn the Saskatoon weir area into a whitewater park is stirring controversy.
The Saskatoon Whitewater Park Committee is recommending a $14 million plan to build a whitewater park that would cater to whitewater activities such as rafting, tubing, canoeing, kayaking as well as swimming.

Two Russians Found Alive After Rafting Accident |

Two of the six missing Russian rafters were found alive in northwest China last Friday. The two were identified as Alexander Zverev and Andrey Pauotov.
The 35 year old Zverev was the first survivor to be discovered by the rescuers at around 10 in the morning. Meanwhile, Pautov was found by eight in the evening. Both men had not eaten and have survived by drinking river water for 25 days
