Two of the six missing Russian rafters were found alive in northwest China last Friday. The two were identified as Alexander Zverev and Andrey Pauotov.
The 35 year old Zverev was the first survivor to be discovered by the rescuers at around 10 in the morning. Meanwhile, Pautov was found by eight in the evening. Both men had not eaten and have survived by drinking river water for 25 days, after their raft capsized last August 28.
According to the survivors their companion Sergey Chernik and his son Ivan Chernik fell into the river and drowned in August 24. They also confirmed that they were the ones who put the bodies under the catamarans. The remaining rafters have to continue rafting in order to get help.
The rescuers also consulted the survivors regarding possible whereabouts of the last remaining missing Russian rafter, Dmitry Tishchenko. Pautov and Zverev suggest searching the rivers lower area.
