Rafting Outfitters to Pay $1M in Taxes
THURSDAY, 29 NOVEMBER 2007
Tennessee - Whitewater rafting outfitters who have not paid the county amusement tax were met by a huge surprise last week after receiving delinquent tax notices that amounted to over $1 Million.
Meanwhile, rafting outfitters claimed that tax payment should be put on hold while the appeal on the said tax is still pending.
A report in the Times Free Press stated that according to Ocoee Outfitters Association President Carlos Smith, paying the tax will surprise those outfitters who were under the impression that the tax issues have been settled in the court ruling last year.
Smith also added that most outfitters have stopped saving money after the said ruling and thus will have a difficult time making the tax payment.
