A male rafter had a near miss at Canterbury, New Zealand’s Rangitata River after he was thrown to the waters while rafting last Saturday, December 15.
The man was identified as Brian Finlay, an accountant at Christchurch. According to a report in the New Zealand Herald, Finlay’s raft was wedged on a rapid and he immediately submerged in the water. According to Finlay, he sank fast and drank a lot of water.
The said rafter was unconscious by the time rafting guides managed to pull him out of the water and had to perform CPR. Finlay was later transported to Christchurch Hospital.
