Whitewater Releases Scheduled on Lehigh River
THURSDAY, 31 JANUARY 2008
The Army Corps of Engineers had set 22 whitewater releases on the Lehigh River at Pennsylvania for the summer season in order to facilitate whitewater rafting in the area.
The said releases will increase the level of water in the said river, making the water conditions safer and faster for rafting.
According to the Pocono Mountain Vacation Bureau, this will, in turn, mean higher income for the area. Each release day is expected to attract nearly 6,200 visitors, which will give revenue of around $2.28 million for the local businesses such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, retail shops and more.
