The past summer season has brought significant increase in Upper Arkansas River’s economy. Contributing to the area’s economic boost is the commercial rafting industry.
The area’s rafting industry has attracted a total of 239, 887 visitors to the Arkansas River by the time the summer season for 2007 draws to an end. Last year, there were only 237,160 people who went on a rafting trip in the river.
Another contributor to Upper Arkansas River’s booming economy is the Royal Gorge Bridge, which drew a total of 308,306 visitors in 2007 alone.
