Thieves Walk Off with Race Raft
MONDAY, 24 MARCH 2008
A race raft that will be used in a charity rafting event was stolen last week. The rafters informed the authorities about the missing raft last Thursday, March 20. The group was supposed to compete in a three-day 70-mile rafting race to benefit the Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice. The race will be held at the River Wye in the UK on May.
According to reports, the 30-foot long aluminum raft was moored near the Ledburn Sandpit in Leighton Buzzard at the RMC Aggregates sites. It was tied with metal girders and heavy duty metal cables and chains.
