Go Rafting in the Dead River

The North Country Rivers in Maine offers trips on the Dead River, a rafting destination that offers more rapids than any other rafting area in New England.
Dead River is fueled by periodic releases from a dam on Flagstaff Lake. The rafters have been enjoying a run-off-assisted 7,000 cubic feet per second, one of two largest releases for this year.
Although the releases have been high, no experience is necessary for the rafting trip according to Jim Murton, owner of the North Country Rivers. Each raft shall have a registered white water guide. Even Murton guides some visitors, too. Before the trip, the staff gives safety presentations to the rafters.
Each trip costs $102 and is open for a minimum age requirement of 10 to 14 depending on the scale of rapids. The company will offer such expeditions that are useful for teambuilding until October.
